(Bank Holiday) Monday 26th May

The Safety Net candidate briefing was so well-attended this evening that there weren’t enough chairs! The group campaigning against violence and harrassment of women and girls has been very busy since I attended their conference last year or the year before. They have been training employers of the night time economy and their staff, educating secondary school pupils and working closely with the Home Committee & the Police. They have made several recommendations to make women (and those who interact with them, such as bar staff and taxi drivers) safer and I support all of them.

Tomorrow, I will be attending the Youth Forum in the early evening, which unfortunately overlaps with the first of the BBC Hustings at Les Cotils. Featured in the latter will be candidates Aldwell, Allen, Almonte, Blin, Cameron, Camp, Collins, Corbin, Dudley-Owen and Gardner. I believe you need to book your seat at http://bbc.co.uk/…/your-voice-your-vote-events-may-june-25. If you can’t attend or you can’t get a ticket, fear not. Apparently the candidates’ opening speeches and 30 minutes of questions will be broadcast on BBC Guernsey the next day (I presume they mean the radio station) and BBC Sounds (on their website).
